The Consejería de Agricultura y Agua is the Department of the Regional Government of the Murcia Region in charge of the ellaboration of proposals, development and implementation of the general guidelines of the Regional Government in Agriculture, Fishing, Water and Environment. It is also responsible for managing the payments related to the Common Agricultural Policy and, in accordance to current legislation, it has competencies related to research and technological development in agriculture, forests and the food industry; research on fishing, shellfish gathering and aquaculture.

The Department for Environment and Climate Change at the Consejería, integrated in the Directorate General Planning, Evaluationa and Environmental Control, is in charge of the activities related to climate change and protection of the environment, and it coordinates the Regional Climate Change Observatory (www.orcc.es), it represents Región de Murcia at the National Commission on Climate and at the Coordination Commission on Climate Change Policies. It also leads the area on “Climate Change: Challenges and Opportunities for the Agriculture”, as a multidisciplinary working group, at the Technological Platform on Sustainable Agriculture (www.agriculturasostenible.org).
